Back – To – School Shopping (26 Dec 2015)
Dec 26 ,10.30 am – Today is one day 42 school going children will not forget. This is the day, Jewel lead by Thanam, gave away free uniforms, shoes, bags, belts and socks to the needy kids. We, volunteers from Jewel, SW group and Pandan school had the joy of seeing the children went wild on the shopping spree.
Hospital Visit ( 10 Dec 2015)
A month ago , young Master J was hospitalised at Hospital Sultan Ismail Johor Bahru, about to undergo an operation to remove a tumor on his left leg, most probably needed an amputation. Jewel members Sheeba and May Chang visited him and his mother. Dr Betty Moraes generously donated an IPad to help ease the stress and boredom. The gadget was Wifi-ed by the SW Group.
SJK( C) Pandan School Breakfast Programme ( June – Nov 2015)
Paying for children to have a proper breakfast, not so that we can feel good about ourselves but because a child has the right to expect that society will do for them what is in their best interest.
Jewel started the Breakfast School Project for thirty children from poor families in this primary school. The program was started in June 2015 after Jewel visited their homes and learnt some of them did not get proper meals in their homes before going to school and when they came back from school. One orphan in the programme stay in a house full of bachelor tenants with his cousin.
Under Jewel’s daily breakfast programme they get a meal from the school canteen paid for by Jewel helped by the school counsellor , Ms Alice.
English Lessons in Kampung Simpang Arang, Gelang Patah
Jewel member , Sheila Nair, spending time once a week on Saturdays with the Orang Asli kids at Kampung Simpang Arang to teach them English, story telling and songs.

Some Documentation Issues Settled ( 21 Oct 2015)
This is a 3 generation documentation issue that took 2 -3 years starting from the grandmother who did not have an IC to Letchumi (the bride) and then finally Thanam is now filing for birth certificates for Letchumi’s two daughters !! Phew!
Birth certificate registration for young MJ, an 8 –year old girl at a children’s home and Thanam receiving a token of appreciation from Elijah Home for Orphans.
Youth Leadership Workshop ( 9 Sept 2015)
On September 9th 2015, SMK Sri Tebrau’s principal and Jewel secretary , Woo Sow Pheng and Jewel Malaysia co organised a youth leadership training for 200 students by Leaderonomics Youth Club.
Great learning! Great sharing! SMK Sri Tebrau will take the lead to empower more youths to become leaders by setting up Leaderonomics Youth Clubs in Johor schools.
