KUALA LUMPUR: The dreaded ‘ah long’ (unlicenced money-lender), long the bane of clients who defaulted on debts, has now come up with a ‘quick-fix’ plan for their female clients.

Work as prostitutes at the city’s brothels to settle outstanding debts!

In at least three cases, the ‘ah long’ has suggested to their female clients to turn to the world’s oldest profession to settle their dues fast and without hassle (from the ‘ah long’).

Kuala Lumpur Consumer Safety Association (PKP) president Samsudin Mohamad Fauzi said they had received three separate complaints from women in their early 30s who were offered this mode of payment to the ‘ah long’.

“The victims who were in fear of the ‘ah long’ had initially agreed to sell their honor to repay their debts to the ‘ah long’.

“They (victims) informed PKP that they received a call from a brothel within 15 minutes of agreeing to the terms of the ‘ah long’,” he told Bernama here today.

Fortunately, he said, the victims were rescued when PKP helped them to lodge a police report on the same day.

“We advised the victims to file a police report to obtain protection against the threat of the ‘ah long’,” added Samsudin.

He said the association hoped women who defaulted on debts obtained from the ‘ah long’ did not resort to selling their bodies to settle their dues out of desperation.

“The ‘ah long’ is just another human being…our country has laws (to deal with them) so the public should not be afraid of them.

“I would like to advise those who intend to borrow money from the ‘ah long’, whether using their own name or that of the wife’s to consider the alternatives to solve their financial woes.

“Think twice before borrowing money from the ‘ah long’ as it can be deemed as ‘coming out of the lion’s mouth and into the dragon’s,” he noted. – Bernama
