Kempen TinDAK- Tindak Demi Anak Kita

To know that community studies  say 1: 10 children ( 10%)  in Malaysia is a victim of sexual abuse  is just “the tip of the iceburg” as the ratio could actually be 1: 3 children is shocking ! Even a 10%  statistic would mean that of the 31 million citizens of Malaysia, we have amongst  us 3.1 million citizens who have once been a victim of CSA.

The JEWEL team has been hard at work developing a programme to empower children and protect against child sexual abuse ( CSA). Kempen TinDAK is to be rolled out in all 906 primary schools in the state with the assistance of the Johor State Education Department and the 11 District Education Offices. We are reaching out to all the 327,853 primary school children in Johor to teach them how to protect themselves from falling victim to sexual abuse using our TinDAK toolkit. We are also training their teachers to adopt more vigilant safety procedures and to inculcate a safe culture among the children to reduce their risk of falling victim to paedophiles. Teachers will learn to recognize the signs , how to report and give support to victims or those at risk of CSA among their wards.

We got a wonderful boost when we had the opportunity to present the outline of our plans for Kempen Tindak to DYMM Permaisuri Johor, who is passionate about child safety. With the support and concern of DYMM Permasuri Johor on protecting  and providing  a safe environment for our children to grow and develop, this will raise the level of community engagement to fight this menace together.
