The Department of Women’s Development with support from the Johor Bahru City Council and several groups including the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG), Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) and Johor’s Women’s League (JEWEL) will be hosting the ‘Peace Blossoms in Johor’ peace forum on 18th June at the JOTIC Auditorium.
Set to generate awareness on creating peace in the society, the forum will feature the former Johor Deputy Police Chief, Dato’ Aishah Mohammad as well as Dr Dato Sri Dharmadass Damoo, both a driving force for peace in our own communities, followed by the signing of the International Law of Peace.
“Through the forum, we can educate all levels of society in Johor Bahru especially students on what we can do for peace. We see that Johor would be a good start for us to organize such project, because the women NGOs are powerful, passionate, and very determined on what they do,” said Coordinator of IWPG, Sarah Gun.
“During the Peace forum, we will introduce the International Law of Peace called the ‘Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War’ which is an actual tool to prevent conflicts and to close up loopholes that many countries take advantage of which later will made into an actual international law,” she said during the media brief.
The JB City Council will be showcasing its future peace project called the ‘Peace Garden’ which is in line with the transformation of the city centre into an international city.
The ‘Peace Blossoms in Johor Bahru’ forum starts at 9 am, 18th June and limited to 350 seats and interested participants, contact 07-2242299 for registration and further details.
