Jewel has had a long working relationship over the years with Capt Bala , an award-winning safety activist, MD of Code Red Survival Academy and founder of Malaysian Volunteer Fire Rescue Association ( MVFRA). He has been  providing  training in Johor for Jewel with target groups like women and girls as well as the public  in safety programmes like   City Survival Skills  and Road Safety Skills ( REACT).

This City Survival Skills workshop  in  Dewan Besar , Kompleks Pusat Bandar Pasir Gudang was a collaboration by Jewel with Jabatan Pembangunan Wanita (JPW) Johor , Pejabat Parlimen Pasir Gudang and Pejabat Pendidikan Daerah  Pasir Gudang (PPDPG).

The event was officiated by Yang Berhormat Hjh Normala bt Abdul Samad, Pasir Gudang Member of Parliament  who stressed on the importance of safety and well-being  for the community. The workshop was attended by 250  teachers and counsellors of all the primary and secondary schools in Pasir Gudang, NGOs and the public.

The participants learnt to equip themselves with survival skills and avoid becoming a victim of crime. The  teachers learned many safety tips and advice they could take back to share with their students in schools as Capt Bala covered a wide range of scenarios at home, at work, in the city and on the road, where safety may be threatened and provided useful tips to stay ahead of criminals.

His passion for saving lives and his involvement with disaster relief , search-and –rescue provided interesting stories to share.  The participants listened with rapt attention as he spent four hours in educating and equipping participants with simple and practical but effective survival skills while lightening this serious topic with humour.
